Benson Jordan Hawkes was born Thursday, June 4th. After only 3 and a half hours of labor he joined our family at 10:10 a.m. He weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. We were so excited to see his full head of dark hair and of course we think he is absolutely adorable and fell in love with him instantly! He is the perfect addition to our family. We wanted to name him after my mom's father, Opa as we call him, who passed away when I was pregnant with Evan. Opa was truly a man of character and had a heart full of love. His life and compassion was a gift and an example to all. He left a legacy of love, devotion and kindness with us that I wanted to pass on to our son, his great grandson. But.... his name was Herbert Elmer, and as my mom said, he would roll over in his grave if we gave him one of those names, since as she put it, he wasn't too fond of his whole life anyway. But his last name was Jordan, so that's where Benson's middle name comes from. Here are a few pictures of his big arrival and a few of him in the week since then.
