Big Events

This past week has been full of big events. To begin with (and yes I know I'm a little late) I want to wish the two most special men in my lives a Happy Father's Day! Shon has got to be the greatest dad ever. I have never seen a dad who loves spending time with his children more than he does. Emma, Parker and Evan really do know how special they are to their dad but only because he not only tells them, but also because he shows it in all he does. I am also thankful for the example that he is to them in the way of service. Shon is away quite a bit with his calling, but he never complains and he always happy about doing it. Even if it is a last minute something that someone needs helps with he is ready and willing. I am grateful that out children are able to see this and learn from this. He really does show them that "when you are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service or your God". I am grateful that Shon has his priorities straight and that his children can see that. I am grateful for his love of the scriptures, it pours into our families lives in so many ways. I am grateful for he way he teaches our children. Many times, I think I underestimate their ability to grasp gospel concepts. But he doesn't, he know how to teach them in ways they understand and remember. And I am really, really grateful that he is always trying to make out family better - in so many ways. I love you Shon - Happy Father's Day!

And now my dad. Oh how I love and respect my father. He has taught me so many life lessons that I will forever be grateful for. Today we were talking about this very subject in RS and since then I have been thinking about many of the things her has taught me and blessed my lives with. The first one that came to mind, was that he taught me to work. Every Saturday morning when I was growing up, he would come in to each of our rooms, bright and early singing the Cougar Fight Song. Then the morning would be taken by weeding for no less than 3 hours in the yard. But what I remember most is that my dad was always beside doing the work along with us. These were special times for me, and although to this day I still HATE weeding, I love the time we spent together. In this instance and in others he taught us that you really can not go anywhere in life without work. Another lesson I am so grateful to have learned from my dad is charity and service. Many, many FHE were spent serving a neighbor and helping those in need. i remember holidays when dad I would pick up those who had nowhere to go. And I especially remember, and can still see it right now, the look in my dad eye and on his face as he would learn of someone in need. When I think of charity that is what I think of. I know of many, many people who have been blessed by this charity, but I probably can not even begin to understand, really, how many peoples lives he has blessed. These are just two of the many, many reasons I love my dad. Happy late Father's Day (and since i know he will never read this - maybe you could print it off for him mom).

Another big event is birthday that have been celebrated this week. First I want to wish my little brother a happy 15th! Joseph, you are a true inspiration to each of us everyday. Thank you for fighting everyday and for giving each of us something to aspire to. You really are an inspiration me and I am so thankful you have been a part of our lives for 15 years. Happy birthday little bro!

And finally, the last big even would have to be that Shon and I celebrated our 7th anniversary yesterday. We spent the evening away from the kids at a nice restaurant (Carrabba's is so yummy - if you ever need a new place to try) and then ice skating. Yes ice skating - and this was not my choice. The last time I went Ice skating was about 15 or so years ago in Young Women's. I didn't stray much from the wall. But it was fun, we had a good time. I have been thinking about our relationship lately and there is one thing that means a lot to me now more than ever. We know we love each other. We are comfortable in the relationship we have and it is growing everyday. Yes, as in every relationship there are things we can and will improve on. But I know he loves me and I love him, and that is what is most important. What others "perceive" our relationship as and how we mange it really doesn't matter. We know we are together forever. I love ya Shon - Happy anniversary!

And if you made it through this marathon of a post - congrats and here are some pics that have nothing to do with anything, but they are cute and we have been taking pictures like crazy cuz we got a new camera and I love the quality! Hope you enjoy!

  3. Can't tell you how great it is to know not only what some of your daily life is like as I read your blogs, but most importantly, what is in your heart. As we don't talk half as much as I would want to, this seems almost as good. Shon is a lucky brother to have you as his companion. I love to hear you adore him as I know he does adore you.
